An important second half 17th century tapestry depicting ‘Dido on the Pyre’ after a cartoon by Isaac Moillon (1614 -1673) from the series “The Story of Dido and Aeneas”. This tapestry is believed to have been a royal commission from the Aubusson tapestry manufacture as evidenced by the fleur-de-lis in the fillet border and the double jeweled crown and scepters on top and bottom wide borders.
